A young student has gained national recognition for heart health advocacy. Supporting heart health is familiar territory for this 11-year-old, who has been involved with the American Heart Association's efforts. The American Heart Association has chosen this sixth grader as a National Youth Heart Ambassador, a title given to only 15 students nationwide.

This student's experience with the organization's Kids Heart Challenge has likely contributed to this new role. Further details about the student's background and selection as ambassador are available.

The student selected for this honor is from Winters and is named Anabel Valencia.
